Major in Education (Elementary Education; Teacher Certification in Early Childhood through Grade Six Core Subjects with English as a Second Language)

The Elementary/ESL Education program provides future teachers the critical thinking skills and approaches to teaching that cultivate the development of the whole student. Faculty members are dedicated to providing future teachers opportunities to engage with community-school stakeholders, implement practice-informed experiences, and implement a curriculum and pedagogical practices that are relevant to the students of Texas. Future teachers gain strategies that work toward the academic success of all students.

ASPIRING TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP

Texas State is partnering with the Charles Butt Foundation’s Raising Texas Teachers initiative. Students in the undergraduate major in Education – Early Childhood to Grade 6/English as a Second Language teacher certification are eligible for the Charles Butt Scholarship for Aspiring Teachers.

Current and incoming students who meet the criteria below may apply for the scholarship of up to 

$8,000/yr for up to 4 years.
